I'm a new employee. How do I log on to the network at Clark State?
Computing Services Department welcomes you to Clark State Community College.
Performing your duties will require Computing Services to create two network accounts. A Novell account, which includes a GroupWise e-mail account, will make available the network resources you will need to print, share information and save data.
Each time you start your computer you will be presented with a Novell login screen. Your username will be your last name followed by your first initial. Your starting password will be your employee ID number, also called your Colleague ID number. (You may get this number from your department administrative assistant.)
To log in, enter your username (no spaces and no punctuation) in the appropriate box and then your password in its box. Click OK or press Enter. If log in fails, the cause may be that someone else shares your last name and first initial. In this event, try again adding your middle initial to the end of your username.
When Novell recognizes you as a legitimate user, it will display a screen listing the resources it is providing you as a user. When finished, this screen will disappear and present the Windows Desktop.
To verify you are logged in, double click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. The new window that appears will show a list of all the drives you have available. Among these drives should be one named with your username. If you do not see this drive, you are not logged in, or there is a problem with your account.
In most cases, you must be logged in to print.
If you have difficulty logging in or just want someone to walk you through the process, call the HelpDesk at extension 6121.
What is the URL to check GroupWise while off campus?
Open a web browser and enter the following URL: https://csccmail.clarkstate.edu/gw/webacc
Don't forget to bookmark this site or add it to your favorites for convenient access.
All new GroupWise e-mail accounts make you set up a password. You must have a password on your GroupWise e-mail account before you can access it from an off campus location. If you need to set up a password, you will need to do this from a computer on campus.
Setting Up a GroupWise Password
After you have opened GroupWise, click on Tools in the main menu. Select Options on drop down menu. On the Options menu, select Security. On the password tab, enter a password for your GroupWise account. (We suggest it be different from the Novell password.) Confirm the new password.
Be sure "No password Required for NDS" is checked. Click OK and close the Options window.
How do I log in to the Syllabus?
Most of the time your login will be your last name and first initial like:
lastname firstname = lastnamef
Your password will be your seven-digit employee ID, also called your Colleague ID.
Access the Syllabus by going to: http://res.clarkstate.edu/Syllabus/Login.aspx
If you experience any problems with logging in, please contact your academic division administrative assistant.
What log in do I use if I am an employee taking online classes at Clark State?
If you are a Clark State employee enrolled in an online course, you should use your existing Novell/GroupWise username. Your initial password will be your seven-digit employee ID number, also called your Colleague ID. Once you successfully log in to your online course, you will be asked to change your password.
